The Meet in Missouri Act provides a financial incentive for Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) to attract major out-of-state conventions to the state of Missouri. The Meet in Missouri Act was passed in May of 2016 by the Missouri General Assembly (House Bill 1698) and became effective August 28, 2016. The Missouri Department of Economic Development oversees the program and will approve or deny applications. Section 620.1620, RSMo, establishes the Meet in Missouri Act and provides the specific requirements for eligible grants. Grant amounts will be disbursed if and when an appropriation is made by the Missouri General Assembly to the program. DED is currently accepting applications in anticipation of funding. The appropriation cannot exceed $3 million in any year.
