Public Relations and Communications

The Public Relations (PR) Program supports the Missouri Division of Tourism’s objective to increase revenue from travelers’ expenditures. This is achieved through a number of initiatives and tactics.

The PR Program works to generate editorial coverage about Missouri’s destinations and attractions by generating and distributing timely, accurate and appealing news releases, hosting in-state press tours for travel writers and leveraging editorial space through advertising agency media buys. The PR Program also enhances the information network by coordinating meetings between representatives of the media and CVBs and chambers of commerce.

The PR program produces a number of informative publications including the Annual Report, a summary of the division’s budget history, programs and marketing efforts, and the annual Travel Guide, a comprehensive resource for travel in Missouri.

The PR Program also is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the division’s Web site,, and its related social-media outlets, as resources for residents and visitors.

Other PR Program activities include providing the division with graphics support for publications and special events, assisting journalists in gathering information and materials for articles and broadcasts, and coordinating requests for tourism division speakers to address groups around the state.

The program staff includes the division’s communications manager, public relations specialist, web editor, digital content specialist and photographer/videographer.
